Objective
A—Offer
student athletes opportunities that will enrich
their athletic experience and better enhance
them toward future leadership.
Strategies
1. Encourage athletic administrators to
seek input from student athletes regarding the quality and equity of
current programs.
2. Articulate among local, state and
national organizations agencies that focus on citizenship,
sportsmanship and scholarship involving student
athletes.
Objective
B—Nurture the
creativity and imagination of student athletes for
program and policy ideas which will aid in
empowering the students sense of worth.
Strategies
1. A committee comprised of both athletes and
athletic administrators will be established to promote and sponsor
student opportunities for IIAAA.
2. Focus on encouraging sportsmanship,
leadership, service, ethics, academic excellence and substance free
living.
3. Sponsor forums around Indiana available to
high school student—athletes to discuss positive attributes of
participation and representation.
4. Consider the establishment of an endowment for
IIAAA which would make available to student athletes a multitude of
programs and scholarships.
5. Explore possibilities for those who wish to be
involved with coaches associations and share “teachable moments” of
citizenship through sport.
6. Consider symposiums to discuss academic
issues including 2.0 gpa rule, tutoring, number of subjects passed,
and no “F” requirements.
